Harder Kulm

The views over Interlaken and both lakes from the Harder are spectacular. Beyond the bridge over the Aare , next to the Harder Alpine Wildlife Park, the Harder-Kulm funicular climbs at a 64-degree gradient up the Harder to an altitude of 1,322 meters. From the Art Nouveau-style Panorama Restaurant at its top are magnificent views of the Jungfrau area, Interlaken, and therefore the lakes. you'll return along forest paths via the Hardermannli lookout pavilion at 1,116 meters and therefore the Hohbühl pavilion, where there's a memorial to the composers Mendelssohn, Wagner, and Weber.

Stop at the Harder Alpine Wildlife Park to ascertain marmots and ibexes. The latter, once a standard denizen of Alps , had become extinct in Switzerland by the first 1900s. This park was created to re-introduce the ibex, and therefore the breeding was so successful that within a couple of years they were ready to begin reintroducing these beautiful creatures into the wild.

For quite 100 years, the funicular has been negotiating the 735 meters of altitude to the Harder Kulm, located at 1322 meters. The journey starts shortly from Interlaken Ost station, leads through an enthralling forest and passes the wildlife park. A five-minute walk takes visitors from the mountain station to the stunning restaurant with turrets and a red roof . Next to the restaurant, guests may visit the “Two-Lakes-Bridge” and an airy viewing platform with a glass area in its floor. From there, truly deep sights are often seen and therefore the magnificent view to Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau also as Lakes Brienz and Thun are often savoured.
